Outbreak Watch

Measles

Measles does not belong on a generalized activity heat map. CDC reports confirmed cases and outbreaks through a national situation page; Contagions.us links directly to that authoritative update without creating an unofficial state risk score.

No automated local score

A stable machine-readable CDC measles summary has not yet been integrated. No case counts are scraped or fabricated.

Useful context, not a diagnosis

ARI

Acute respiratory illness activity reflects the percentage of emergency-department visits involving respiratory illness.

Wastewater

Wastewater shows relative viral activity in participating sewer systems. It does not equal the percentage of people infected.

Reporting lag

Weekly surveillance takes time to collect, quality-check and publish. Recent values may be revised.

Coverage

Not every state has sufficient participating wastewater coverage every week. Limited data remain clearly marked.
